Jalīya Journey: Harnessing the Healing Rhythms of Water Meditation

Authored by, Master Himala Pahadi

"Jalīya" is a Nepalese word for water. In English, we refer to this meditation as the "water meditation." This practice harnesses the potent sensory experience of being immersed in, or in contact with, water, aiding in the release of tension and fostering a sense of harmony. Water represents an endless flow that courses through impediments, unlocking inner tranquility and healing.

Moreover, water erodes anything that obstructs its natural trajectory. It adapts, taking any form or shape necessary to continue its innate path. Resilient against all efforts to divert its course, it seeps through fissures, epitomizing formlessness. This is how water amplifies your intent: it grants you the formlessness that prevents obstruction.

The inherent resonance of water manifests in qualities like healing, absorption, and purification. It stands as the balancing element for the Hayvoste. As you breathe, feel the therapeutic vibrations reverberating throughout your being. Contemplate your intrinsic capacity to heal, devoid of prejudice or shame; you are in a state of ascension. As you resonate with water, the sensation of its vibrational currents will invigorate you.

A simple method to engage in water meditation involves integrating any of the prior three meditations within a water setting. Whether you choose to sit or stand submerged, it's paramount to achieve harmony with your Hayvoste.

The goal is to energize your Vostes, followed by the water. Embrace the uninhibited flow of vibrations. Revel in the purity, the restorative energy, and the release of all tension.

Ancient masters from Ahpay Amah recognized the heart's tendency to slow down upon contact with water. These sages would instantaneously attain a calmer state, making this form of meditation profoundly effective.

Meditating in a pool or a bathtub can yield remarkable outcomes. However, meditating in a natural water source, blessed with its inherent essence and earthy properties, is optimal.

Here's how you perform the Jalīya:

To harness the healing power of water, you don't necessarily need to immerse yourself or shower in a body of water. Instead, you can follow these steps:

  1. Prepare a comfortable meditation space, laying towels to protect the surfaces beneath you.

  2. Pour water into a vessel (in rituals and spells, you might use a ceremonial vessel).

  3. Submerge your hands into the water, close your eyes, and feel the sensation—be it cool or warm—of the water caressing them.

  4. Take slow, deep breaths, sensing the vibrations of your Hayvoste enlivening the water, and in turn, the water energizing the Hayvoste.

  5. Lift your hands, allowing the water to drip from your fingers onto a chosen Vostes. You can choose one or all of them. As the water cascades down, attune to the vibrations tracing its path.

Visualize a clear waterfall of vibrations descending upon you. Feel the intense emotions of anger and resentment being tempered, and the heavy emotions of sadness and disappointment gradually dissipating.

With every drop, sense the vibrational flow cleansing your body, ridding it of dissonance, malaise, and barriers. Memories and anticipations that once sparked anger and sorrow no longer dominate your physical being; they simply drift away. You embody the sky, anchored firmly in the present. This present moment is perpetual. Within its embrace, you ascend. Ascension paves the way for awakening, culminating in rebirth. To rebirth oneself as a renewed master of Ahpay Amah is to rejuvenate the mind. This rejuvenated mindset revels ecstatically in the present, brimming with heightened clarity and insight. Regardless of where your ascension journey stands, always remember the restorative power of water, employing it to immerse yourself in an ever-luminous and fulfilling present.
